Kaunissaari offers relaxation, wonderful landscapes and nature for outdoor people. Kaunissaari is located about 22 km east of Helsinki in the Sipoo archipelago, almost in the open sea.
Kaunissaari is Helsinki's easternmost outdoor island. Kaunissaari is a 2 kilometer long and 800 meter wide island with a diverse fauna and flora and good fishing waters. The island has rocky and pebbly beaches as well as wonderful sand beaches.
On the nature trail in Kaunissaari, you can meet a peregrine falcon or observe a seal sunbathing on a rock.
The nature trail not only reveals the island's natural wonders but also provides deep insights into its historical significance. The lifestyle of the island's fishermen is intriguing to us due to its sheer distance in time. They pursued activities like seal hunting on the ice and trading across the Gulf of Finland, practices that feel incredibly removed from our current era.
