A dear child has many names. Lauttasaari is a respite near the heartbeat of the city center. Lauttasaari's Finnish name comes from the Swedish-language steam ferry called Drumsö, which operated between Ruoholahti and Lauttasaari in the early decades. At the beginning of the 20th century, a sea spa and cafe called Drumsö Casino was established on the island. Today, "kasinoranta" is used as a nickname for the swimming beach of Merikylpylä park, where people gather as soon as the weather permits to play, swim and enjoy the cafe's food.
